William Hays had begun his artistic career as a painter. Since 2012 he has worked exclusively as a printmaker for linocuts and woodblock prints. Although having a degree in fine art (BFA, Sculpture), his printmaking skills are self taught. Since devoting himself entirely to printmaking, his works have received awards and have been selected for several juried exhibitions throughout the United States.
