Takahiko Hayashi Biography

TAKAHIKO HAYASHI, Born 1961

Takahiko Hayashi is a talented artist who specializes in color etchings. Mr. Hayashi himself designs, etches, and prints all of his Work, and his incredible attention to detail is notable in his delicate etchings.

At the age of 24, he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Oil Painting at Musashino Art University and just two years later he completed a Master’s of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the Tokyo National University of Arts.

Mr. Hayashi’s prints are done on elegant thick, cream colored, handmade paper,a nice contrast to his delicate designs. Hayashi finds inspiration in the wind, as can be seen by his titles and the airiness of his work.
Hayashi’s prints are produced in limited edition series, which ensures their exclusivity.

The Paintings of Takahiko Hayashi are extraordinary creations; they vary greatly and allow for the Artist's spontaneous and meticulous use of a great variety of materials that are combined in new and finely detailed ways.

Stitching and knotting with hand twisted papers form patterns both front and back and may be combined with plaster, pomegranate juice, oil, acrylic; delicately cut cloth or papers with turned back edges, painted cloth combined with lacing - the inventiveness is unlimited and the Work created may be robust, delicate, evocative, clearly patterned or floating in its own special space. It is a journey of discovery and a pleasure to behold.
