Description: Scene of an ancient pailou (or paifang) entrance gate in the glare of the hot afternoon sun. Two workers are loading heavy items into a wooden oxcart at lower left. The large tree in the foreground adds to the feeling that the surrounding structures may have been lost to time. In the background we see the shadowed shape of a long wall that likely surrounds part of the city.
