Description:A striped cat, covered in realistic bristled fur is resting next to a flowering peony.The peony is hand drawn in soft tansai sketch style. Kazue Yamagishi can be called a versatile and all-round artist: after studying Western-style painting and sculpture he started as a woodblock carver. He became one of the best, carving blocks (in very different styles) forY umeji, Kiyokata, Hiroshi Yoshida, Paul Jacoulet and Kôshirô Onchi.
