Description:An outstanding sheet of the Park as seen through a stand of Pines at the shore. "The city of Fukuoka on Japan's southern island of Kyushu has, since its early history, been a conduit for incoming foreign influences. During the Tokugawa period (1600-1969) the city developed into a castle town. The Nishi (West) park shelters the city's old port area and affords great views." (Hotei)
