Description:
Issued: Midas, King of Phrygia, was doomed to turn all he touched into gold. Hagiwara depicts Midas with bloated and distorted features and gives him the ears of an ass. As Midas is unable to escape his curse - even as his food turns to gold, so the figure of Midas appears imprisoned, his large body filling all space available in this print.
