Woodblock Print

Description: In this extraordinary Work, Hagiwara uses his renowned technique of coloring the verso in black and pressing this color through to the front of the print. The result is a rich, softly diffused color, enriched with green, moving across and up the picture plane. Seed-like shapes in varied colors rise and appear to expand towards the surface. This is a rare work, an Artist proof of 1962.
