The Tea house, on stilts, is set back in the lake, quiet and secluded among the fall foliage of surrounding trees. Trees play a major and dramatic role; a pine and maple rise dominantly upwards and across the picture plane displaying their color and dramatic form against the bright blue sky and emphasizing the private nature of Tea house. Karhu's characteristic strong line is much in evidence; as in much of his recent work the colors are brilliant, almost iridescent blues, yellows, orange. green and tan.
