A bridge leads to steps rising steeply to the gate of the great Pagoda on the hill. Strict symmetry is avoided by means of subtle shifts of forms and lines that animate the composition. Saito has used an unusual device of strirations, a 'combing' pattern of lines, that contrast with the otherwise clearly defined shapes, thus giving this image an air of mystery.
Colors are black, brown, white, grey and rust.
